 Hybrids of a
Reciprocal Cross

I wanted to know, after working with many hardy waterlily crosses, what the results would be of reciprocal crosses, hybridization involving a pair of crosses that reverse the sexes associated with each genotype.

 

Here is another reciprocal cross using the cultivars Nymphaea 'Splendida' and N. 'Perry's Pink'. The results are as follows:


N. 'Splendida'

1. 18 new hybrids of N. 'Splendida' x N. 'Perry's Pink' are pictured in A

2. 12 new hybrids of vice versa
are shown in B 


N. 'Perry's Pink'
This pair produced similar results in terms of the hybrids' flower shapes and colors. Two other pairs appear in WGI ONLINE Journal 3.1 and 3.3.
