I wanted to know, after working with many hardy waterlily crosses, what the results would be of reciprocal crosses, hybridization involving a pair of crosses that reverse the sexes associated with each genotype.

Here is the last example of a reciprocal cross using the cultivars Nymphaea 'Perry's Fire Opal' and N. 'Madame Wilfron Gonnère'. The results are as follows:

N. 'Perry's Fire Opal'

1. 10 new hybrids of N. 'Perry's Fire Opal' and N. 'Madame Wilfron Gonnère' are pictured in A.

2. 5 new hybrids of vice versa are shown in B.

N..'Madame Wilfron Gonnère'
This pair produced similar results in terms of the hybrids' flower shapes and colors, though the flowers in B have consistently more petals than those in A. Two other pairs appear in WGI ONLINE Journal 3.1 and 3.2.
